What is an internship and why should I get one?
It is a structured educational experience which incorporates a productive work experience as a regular part of a college student's curriculum, internships involve the student working in a professional setting under the supervision and monitoring of practicing professionals. See student and employer advantages of internships document to learn more.
When do I apply for an internship?
The earlier you start, the more time you have to gain experience and see if your chosen profession is really for you. The best way to find an internship is to apply for many. The internship process might be long and tedious, so you want to allow yourself enough time to look and schedule interviews. Rockwell Career Center receives internship listings continually. It's probably best to begin your internship search the semester prior to your desired placement. Utilize this internship timeline document as a guide to follow during your internship search process.
