boren scholarships from iie for 2008-2009

DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 12, 2008

The Institute for International Education Boren Scholarships and fellowships provide opportunities for U.S. undergraduate students to learn less commonly taught languages while studying in regions of the world critical to U.S. interests but underrepresented in study abroad and for graduate students to add international and language components to their education. Language training is in Arabic, Central Asian Turkic languages, Hindi/Urdu, Korean, Mandarin, Persian/Farsi, and Eurasian languages.

bba basics information session

New Pre-Business students are encouraged to attend the BBA Basics information session on Friday, February 15th from 1-2 pm.  Check in at 262 Melcher Hall.  A building tour is also offered from 12:30-1 pm.

National society of hispanic mbas scholarship program

DEADLINE: april 30, 2008

The National Society of Hispanic MBAs provides financial assistance to outstanding Hispanics pursuing an MBA.  Over $1 million in financial assistance was awarded in 2007.

Eligibility:

  • Be a US citizen or legal permanent resident
  • Be of Hispanic heritage
  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale from a bachelor's or master's degree or have a minimum GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale from a bachelor's and 2 years of full-time work experience
  • Be a current NSHMBA member

Texas conference for women scholarships

DEADLINE: june 1, 2008

The Texas Conference for Women will award financial scholarship to 6 Texas women pursuing higher education in Texas. A $5000 scholarship will be awarded in each of the following career categories: The Arts, Business, Education, Nursing, Math and Science, Public Service.

houston electrical league Internship / scholarship

deadline: february 18, 2008

The Houston Electrical League (HEL) is pleased to announce the 2008 Summer Intern Scholarship Award Program. Junior and Senior Business majors from the Bauer College have the opportunity to work in the Houston electrical industry for 12 weeks during the summer of 2008.

Selected applicants will be interviewed by the HEL Scholarship Committee on February 22, 2008 at Bauer College.

Summer Internship: $7760 = $2000 award + 12 week internship @ $12/hr (40 hrs/wk). Interviewed students will also be considered for a scholarship of up to $2000. Operations Management and CEI students are highly encouraged to apply.

eligibility requirements:

  1. Applicant must be a full-time undergraduate enrolled at the University of Houston with a declared major in the College of Business
  2. Internship: Minimum 2.5 GPA
  3. Scholarship: Minimum 2.75 GPA
  4. Applicant must have completed 60 or more hours by the end of the Spring 2008 semester.
  5. Applicant must be a US citizen or legally authorized to work in the US.

Interested students should email scholar@uh.edu to request application materials.  All required documents must be completed and returned by 5 p.m. on Monday, February 18, 2008, to the Bauer Scholarship Office, Dean's Suite, 350 Melcher Hall.
