Students tend to become weary of walking around trying to locate an available computer. With the power of the computer availability maps, they will be able to check the web to view the status of every lab computer in real time. They will be able to view which computers are available (BLACK), in use (BLUE), as well as identify which computers that have unresolved technical problems through a warning icon on the map (FLASHING YELLOW ARROW).

If after checking the online maps, students may see that all of the computers are in use (BLUE)but need to print an important paper. There is no need for them to panic. Wireless printing is now available. If students have their laptops, they can print wirelessly to one of the lab printers from anywhere in Melcher Hall.

We also are giving students an opportunity to tell us what they think about these new services with the introduction of the Virtual Interactive Bauer Exchange (VIBE). VIBE is an open forum where students can express their thoughts and opinions, or make suggestions on how we can improve their computing experience at Bauer. Students can also share their ideas with their peers as well as the Bauer IT staff. With student feedback, we can work toward ensuring that our technology is the best on campus.
