Enjoy a variety of great food, beverages, door prizes and music. Tailgates starts two-and-a-half hours prior to kickoff and are located at the Bauer Alumni Pavilion. Kick-off dates and times are subject to change. Go Coogs!

    Jamey RootesJamey Rootes, President of the Houston Texans, will serve as the guest speaker for the Bauer Alumni Association Networking Breakfast on Thursday, November 19, 2009. Mr. Rootes will give insight on the importance of corporate branding and the Texan’s highly-acclaimed customer service strategy.

    Under Mr. Rootes’ leadership, the Houston Texans have earned many distinctions, including the American Marketing Association’s “Crystal Award” for the best overall marketing campaign and the Sports Business Journal’s PRISM Award for business excellence. He was twice selected by Sports Business Journal as a member of their distinguished “Forty Under 40” list of leading sports executives. Mr. Rootes also oversees the activities of Lone Star Sports & Entertainment (LSSE), a sports management agency associated with the Texans. LSSE has been a catalyst for some of Houston’s most significant sporting events such as the Texas Bowl, Houston’s only collegiate bowl game, which has generated an average of $25 million in economic impact per year. That impact is comparable to other premier bowl games like the Alamo, Gator and Cotton Bowls. Before joining the Texans, Mr. Rootes previously held executive positions at IBM and Procter & Gamble and helped to launch Major League Soccer as president and general manager of the Columbus Crew.

    He received his MBA at Indiana University. Mr. Rootes lives in West University with his wife, Melissa, and their children, Christopher and Caroline.

    Networking and breakfast begin at 7:00AM with scheduled adjournment at 8:30AM. Cost is $30 ($25 for active Bauer Alumni members) and is open to the public. Reservations close two days prior to the event.

      Jamey Rootes

      To kickoff the spring Monthly Networking Breakfast series, the Bauer College Alumni Association is honored to host Mr. James T. Hackett, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Anadarko Petroleum Corporation. Through Mr. Hackett’s firm leadership, Anadarko continues to be one of the largest independent oil and natural gas exploration and production companies in the world.

      Throughout his career, Hackett has successfully navigated through high profile mergers in the energy industry. Before joining Anadarko in 2003, Mr. Hackett served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Devon Energy Corporation following its merger with Ocean Energy where he served as Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer, itself a product of a merger in 1999 with Seagull Energy Corporation where he was Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President. He joined Seagull from Duke Energy where he led its Energy Services Division as President. Prior to that, he was Executive Vice President of Pan Energy when the company merged with Duke Power to create Duke Energy. His energy experience includes positions in engineering, finance and marketing with NGC Corp., Burlington Resources and Amoco Oil Co.

      Mr. Hackett currently serves on the Board of the American Exploration & Production Council, the American Petroleum Institute, the American Natural Gas Alliance, and the Society of Petroleum Engineers. He is a director of Fluor Corporation and Halliburton Company and serves as Chairman of the Board of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. Mr. Hackett has also served on the board of several community organizations including the Houston Grand Opera, Baylor College of Medicine, the Business Roundtable, and the Trilateral Commission. Mr. Hackett also serves as an Adjunct Professor at Rice University.

      Immediately following each Monthly Networking Breakfast, the C.T. Bauer College of Business is pleased to offer LinkedIn Seminars. LinkedIn is a business-oriented social networking site mainly used for professional networking. The seminar will take place from 9:00am to 10:30am at the Houston City Club. The trainings are free to all breakfast attendees and open to the public. Individuals, who wish to only attend the LinkedIn trainings, may register at a cost of $30. Proceeds from the seminars will support the Bauer Champions Campaign, which creates scholarships for Bauer students. Please note that space is limited.
