Bauer Undergraduate Program Concentration Prerequisites

  • To take 3000-4000 level business courses students must have a 2.0 or higher cumulative GPA at UH, and meet specific prerequisites for courses as listed below.
  • Non-business majors may not take 3000-4000 level business courses except for INTB 3351, 3352, and 3353; and ENTR 3310 and 3312 (courses for the Global Business minor), unless they have officially declared a minor in business or are in a specialty program, and are taking courses specifically required for that minor or specialty program. All business minors require a 2.75 GPA on the last 60 hours of coursework including transfer work and all attempted hours except for the Global Business minor and the International Area Studies minor.

  • Prebusiness majors can take up to FIVE 3000-level business courses.

  • Current Bauer College guidelines do not permit Post Baccalaureate students to take undergraduate business courses or pursue a second undergraduate degree in the Bauer College of Business.
  • Enrollment in 4000-level business courses is limited to students who are declared business majors (business majors with degree plans on file ) and to students officially admitted into business-related programs (such as business minors, and students in the computer science-business option, the professional selling program, and exchange programs) who are taking these courses to meet specified requirements for these business-related programs.
  • A prerequisite course must be completed with a passing grade (D- or higher, unless a specific grade is noted) prior to the start of the course.
  • Concurrent enrollment means to take course and required course in the same semester.
  • No 3000-4000 level business course may be repeated more than 3 times (including W's, I's, F's and passing grades).
  • Prebusiness majors can take up to five 3000-level business courses including all courses attempted (with W's, I's, F's, and passing grades) and courses transferred. Prebusiness majors may take 3000-level business courses while participating in a mixed program, (i.e. a one-semester transition in which students that are in all remaining courses to file a degree plan while simultaneously enrolled in 3000-level business courses).  The Bauer College of Business has specified filing periods.
  • Prerequisites not on the UH mainframe computer record must be evaluated and automated on the College of Business prerequisite checking computer program before the beginning of the courses for which the prerequisites are required (for example: international transfer evaluations).  Contact the Office of Undergraduate Business Programs, 262 Melcher Hall, (713) 743-4900 for information.
  • Courses listed below with * indicate courses specifically required for majors of that department. Students seeking an undergraduate degree should complete Freshman-Sophomore courses by their junior year and file for a degree plan & a specific area of concentration.
