prerequisite agreement form (PAF)

If you are listed as missing a prerequisite in the letter or email you received, please read through the following table to determine which course of action you will need to remedy your situation.

PLEASE NOTE: If you are completing a prerequisite in any semester before the semester starts, you may use the Prerequisite Agreement Form below to request an extension of time for those grades to be posted or to get your transcript sent and evaluated. If you do not meet the prerequisites by the beginning of the semester, you should drop immediately. Otherwise, you may be dropped without refund.

If you received a prerequisite letter or email , please read through the following categories and respond accordingly. The Bauer College of Business strictly enforces all prerequisites. Our accreditation by the AACSB board does not permit exceptions.

Explanation

Course of Action

Missing a specific course prerequisite

You must complete the course prior to the start of the upcoming semester. **(Cannot be registered for the class and prerequisite in the same semester)

Drop the class in which you are lacking the prerequisite and register for other classes that you meet the prerequisites for.

OR

If you are completing/have completed the class at another institution, turn in an official transcript to the Transfer Admissions office (129 E. Cullen). You will receive a transfer evaluation once your credits have been evaluated. Please use the Agreement form listed below to inform our office that you have acknowledged the letter you received from us and will be requesting your transcripts for evaluation.

Invalid Major/Non-major

You must have a valid degree plan on file to take the courses.

File your degree plan if you are eligible to do so. Otherwise, you need to drop the class.

** All degree plans need to be submitted within filing periods

Students that have only attempted five or less 3000-level business courses may keep their current business courses.

If you are a declared business minor, you will need to use the Agreement form listed below to contact us regarding your courses. Remember that, as a business minor, you may only take business classes that apply to your minor.

Minimum hours

You must have the minimum number of hours to take certain classes (ex. 30 hours for DISC 2373, 45 hours for 3000 level business classes).

If you do not have the required number of hours, you will need to pick other classes that you meet the prerequisites for.

Maximum/Too many hours

You exceeded the number of classes allowed as a pre-business or non-business major.

If you meet the requirements:

.  pre-business majors must file a degree plan

.  non-business majors must change major to pre-business and file a business degree plan OR declare a minor in business.
Please check filing deadlines.

If you are on college academic notice, (students whose  UH GPA is between 2.00 and 2.39), please do not submit the prerequisite agreement form. Make arrangements to meet with a prebusiness advisor for options.

Contact your advisor immediately to discuss options.

Low GPA

You must have a cumulative GPA of 2.00 to take upper level business classes (3000-4000 level business classes)

You need to drop all 3000-4000 level business classes. Please see a prebusiness advisor for options.

Invalid classification

Must have the required hours/classification to take the class (example: sophomore standing)

Please check the schedule for 5000 level Accounting classes.
