change major to pre-business

Students Applying to UH for the First Time:

If you request and qualify to be a business major when you first apply to the University of Houston, you will be admitted as a Pre-Business major until you can file a degree plan to change your major to a specific concentration.

New transfer students with 15 or more hours must have a 2.75 cumulative grade point average (GPA calculation) on 15-60 hours or on the last 60 hours. Undergraduate admission decisions are made by the UH Office of Admissions, Welcome Center.

You are expected to attend a BBA Basics session. #1.  Learn more about the programs offered in the Bauer College of Business.  #2.  Learn how to calculate your GPA. #3. Find out the courses you should be taking in preparation to become a pre-business major.

You must submit transcripts to UH Admissions Office.  Please send any new or updated transcripts to the University of Houston Office of Admissions that were not sent when you first enrolled, and wait for an official transfer evaluation BEFORE you submit your application.

You must have a minimum of 15 hours of college-level course work with grades. **Note that current Bauer College guidelines do not allow Postbaccalaureate applications for a change of major to Pre-Business at this time.

You must be in good academic standing at UH (not on probation or suspension), and be currently enrolled. You must have been enrolled at UH during the past 13 months of the date of your request to be considered currently enrolled.

You must have a 2.75 GPA on your last sixty hours (or cumulative hours if less than sixty hours). The calculation of your GPA includes both transfer work and UH work, including courses that did not transfer because of a low grade. If the 60th hour occurs in the middle of a semester, all grades for that semester are used in the calculation. For change of major GPA calculation purposes, grades of I (Incomplete) are calculated as grades of F.  (Note: a 2.5 GPA on the last sixty hours is required for students whose first semester at UH was prior to fall 2003 and who have not broken residency at UH for more than 13 months)

1. I have been currently enrolled at UH within the last 12 months
2. I am in good academic standing at UH (not on probation or suspension)
3. I have submitted all transfer work and it has been evaluated by the UH Admissions Office
4. I have attended a BBA Basics information session
5. I have updated my UH Email Alias
6. I understand my change of major request will be processed with the information currently available in UH Academic Records within 5-10 business days. 

You will be notified within 5 business days (10 days during peak times) by your UH e-mail alias of your approval or disapproval.
