Bauer Undergraduate Program ias minor

Students pursuing a BBA under the Pre-2005 Degree Plan are required to minor either in International Area Studies focusing on one region of the world (Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, or Russia) or in one of the following foreign language minor: Chinese, French, French for Business-Related Professions, German, German Cultural and Professional Studies, German Area Studies, Italian, Russian, Spanish, or Spanish for the Business Professions.

Foreign language minors should file minor degree plan at the Department of Modern and Classical Languages, 413 Agnes Arnold Hall (if students are required to wait to file for the foreign language minor, they may still file for their business major). Students whose first language is not English may minor in English. Consult with the English advisor in 205 Roy Cullen.

The International Area Studies minors are open to all majors, but are designed as a special requirement for business majors following the Pre-2005 degree plan.

Requirements for any of the IAS five minors:

  • 18 semester hrs of coursework in the minor; 12 hrs must be advanced (3000-4000 level).
  • 12 of the 18 hrs must be taken in residence at UH; 9 of the 12 advanced hrs in residence.
  • No more than 9 hrs from any one Department shall be applied to the minor.
  • 2.00 minimum cumulative GPA on courses attempted in the minor at UH.
  • 6 hrs must be from a specific area of study (effective Fall 2005)
  • To request substitution, please fill out a general petition form and turn it to the front desk of the Undergraduate Business Programs office, 262 Melcher Hall.
