MBA Degree Requirements Summary

A minimum of 48 semester hours at the graduate level is required for all MBA students. There are two categories of course work: core courses and electives.

Core Courses (30 semester hours)

A total of ten courses comprise the MBA core curriculum.  Core courses are presented in modules to facilitate the student's acquisition of cross-functional knowledge.  These modules and courses are taken in the order shown.

  • Module 1:
    • ACCT 6331: Financial Accounting
    • FINA 6387: Managerial Analysis
  • Module 2:
    • DISC 6360: Statistical Methods for Business
    • FINA 6335: Managerial Finance
  • Module 3:
    • GENB 6350: Business Law and Ethics*
    • DISC 6341: Information Systems
  • Module 4:
    • MANA 6332: Organizational Behavior and Management
    • MARK 6361 Marketing Administration
  • Module 5:
    • DISC 6301: Production and Operations Management
    • MANA 6383: Strategic Management (Capstone Course)

* GENB 6350 is only required as a core course for students who started the MBA program from
Fall 2005 forward.

Electives (18 semester hours)

MBA candidates must take a minimum of six 6000- and 7000-level business elective courses to complete the degree. Two graduate-level electives outside the Bauer College of Business (only at the U.of H. Central Campus) may be counted toward the degree subject to prior approval from the MBA Program Office.

  • Management (MANA)
  • Management Information Systems (under DISC)
  • Marketing (MARK)

Classes meet one evening a week from 6pm-9pm.
Summer session classes meet twice a week from 6pm-10pm.

Electives can be taken with core classes to achieve full time status
