Mission Statement
“To organize, expand and promote the knowledge and practice of Entrepreneurship.”
- We are now the largest and fastest growing entrepreneurship program in the nation. In 2007, our program was ranked second in the Top 25 undergraduate entrepreneurship programs in the U.S by the Entrepreneurship Magazine and the Princeton Review.
- The visionary leader and Founding Director of WCE, William Sherrill, won the prestigious Ernst and Young Entrepreneurship Educator of the Year Award in 1994 for his advancements in education.
- For the past 15 years, the Cyvia and Melvyn Wolff Center for Entrepreneurship (WCE) has been preparing students to assume leadership roles in the business world, teaching them how to run their own business, from the inception of an idea through its implementation. Our entrepreneurship program teaches students “how” to become an entrepreneur – not “about” entrepreneurship.
- We utilize an innovative method employed by Fortune 500 CEOs to train successors to teach business skills, foster leadership talent and cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset.
- The Intrapreneurship Certificate Program is our latest initiative to teach UofH students entrepreneurship, the business process and value creation. The two-course program focuses on bringing an executive perspective to all employees. It further demonstrates how to inject innovative and thoughtful insight in all job functions. This is the only Certificate of its kind in the nation.
- Our team of outstanding WCE students prepares a business plan and takes it on the road to competitions to compete for seed money and awards. Since 2003, we have finished in the top three at 12 major competitions in North America.
The Wolff Center for Entrepreneurship is the largest and most rapidly growing entrepreneurship program in the United States. The Wolff Center has quickly grown from an enrollment of 30 students who major in entrepreneurship to an enrollment of 1,300 students per semester who will receive an Intrapreneurship Certificate. WCE teaches its unique entrepreneurial process to 35 students per year pursuing a B.B.A. in Entrepreneurship. This student body is taught as a cohort group in each of the classes leading to a major in entrepreneurship.
Since 1991, the Wolff Center has provided students a stimulating and exciting learning environment that integrates real world experience with traditional classroom education. At the WCE, our unique Entrepreneurship curriculum is a careful blend of classroom education and hands-on experience from diverse support programs and community education and outreach. This enables us to offer our students a balance of academic rigor and real-world perspective and teach them to see the whole picture when given only a few pieces of the puzzle.
We assemble an all-star team of successful business leaders and thriving entrepreneurs to teach students applied entrepreneurship. Our professors bring to the lectures not only over 200 years of combined business knowledge and entrepreneurial experience but also their hard-earned success and failure lessons. Students learn better from the unique and vivid learning experience.
