How Do I Apply?

To be a Bauer Honors student, you must first be admitted to The Honors College at UH and also be a business major or minor in the Bauer College of Business at UH.

To join, you must apply directly to The Honors College through an online and paper application process. Your required application materials include your official high school transcript, official SAT (or ACT) score reports, an academic writing sample, a list of your interests and activities (optional), an application fee, and transcripts for any college work you have (dual credit).

Honors College Application faq's

I already sent my official high school transcript and official SAT (or ACT) score reports when I applied to UH. Do I need to send them again, to The Honors College?

No, the Honors College will obtain this information through UH Admissions.

What should I write about for my academic writing sample? Can I use one of my college application essays?

The Honors College encourages students to submit writing samples that reflect their proficiency in English, critical thinking, and analysis. It should be academic in nature, so college application essays are not recommended. You are allowed and encouraged to submit assignments from your high school work, if you prefer.

What if I have dual credit and/or AP credit?

You are not required to submit official AP credit scores directly to The Honors College, although you should send this information directly to UH.

Regarding dual credit, you should send official transcripts directly to UH Admissions . Since you will send your transcripts to UH Admissions, you are not also required to send transcripts to The Honors College.

Do I have to submit a list of my interests and activities? Do I have to submit a resume?

No, but it’s recommended. Your list of interest and activities need not be contained in a formal resume’ – you can include the list in your online application, in simple format or with as much detail as you would like.

How long does it take to process my application? How can I find out about my application status?

After The Honors College has received ALL of your application materials, it should take between two and four weeks to find out whether you’ve been accepted. To check on the status of your application, you can contact The Honors College directly at 713-743-9010.
