PPA, MPA, CAP: Harper & Pearson Spring 2009 internships

Wednesday, 30 July 2008 08:55 by cworsnop

The Professional Accountancy Programs Office is pleased to announce that we have a new partnership with Harper & Pearson Company, P.C.

Harper & Pearson Company, P.C. – a premier midsized Houston top 15 accounting firm is seeking interns for the Spring of 2009.  Our firm, established in 1962 is currently interviewing for 2-3 intern positions each, for both audit and tax.

These positions provide for 30-40 hour per week internships and will not exceed these hours unless agreed to by both parties.  We prefer the internship experience to not exceed 45-50 hours per week.

We believe our internships generally exceed other firms in the areas of compensation, hours worked, training, and diversity of job assignments.  For example, to encourage our project teams to fully utilize our interns we often reduce the bill rate charged to our clients to encourage continued utilization of our interns.  This promotes further training and a greater in-depth knowledge of our clients as the internships consist of more contact with our clients and professional staff assigned to such.

Our long-term desire is to develop relationships with our interns, leading to eventual fulltime employment and a successful career in public accounting.  This would include lucrative compensation, promotions based on individual performance, and potential ownership.  Our fulltime professional staff and seniors enjoy a very competitive base salary, annual salary increases, overtime/comptime, bonus potential, 100% paid medical benefits, 401k plan with immediate vesting upon entry, 100% firm paid Becker review course, plus an immediate salary increase upon completion of all four parts of the exam.

Our motto is “You Count” and we take it to heart.   The value you bring to our firm will be maximized by hearing from you often; we listen, thus together shaping your career.  We are dedicated to developing and sustaining a healthy balance between your career and your life.  We want our associates to be energized, not exhausted!

If you would like to be considered for one of these unique intern opportunities, please submit your resume to resumes@harperpearson.com and indicate UH Spring Internship in the subject line.  Resumes should adhere to the Bauer College format.  We look forward to meeting with you soon.
