Good
afternoon!
The Department of
Accountancy & Taxation is committed to offering courses that will give YOU
an advantage over your peers from other schools as you enter the workforce.
Our Accountancy &
Taxation Advisory Board, which is made up of top officers from the Big-4 firms,
top mid-market firms and industry, has identified two areas that they are
looking for expertise in in the very near future – Internal Audit/ERM/Internal
Controls and International Standards, AND has assisted us in organizing and
offering three new courses this Fall that will give you this requisite
knowledge:
ACCT4397 (34763) –
Enterprise Risk
Management (New -- Undergraduate Only),
ACCT7397 (34764) –
Advanced Internal Audit (New -- Graduate Only), and
ACCT7397 (34766) –
International Statement Reporting (New -- Graduate
Only).
These courses, together
with our other current offerings in these areas of interest,
namely:
ACCT4375 (10602) –
Internal Audit Entity Environment (Undergraduate Only)
and
ACCT7397 (33800) –
Current Issues in Accounting (Graduate Only),
will increase your
value to our Colloquium Partners.
The two new classes
that focus on the application of ERM [the ACCT4397 (34763) Enterprise Risk
Management class and the ACCT7397 (34764) Advanced Internal Audit class] are
being taught by experts in their field and are designed to give you a “leg up”
in your careers by teaching you skills that are in demand (e.g., SOX 404 work,
etc.) now and will be in demand over the next few years by the Big-4 CPA firms
and our other Colloquium partners. We urge you to consider taking these two
courses as upper level electives.
The third new course
[ACCT7397 (34766) – International Statement Reporting] is designed to prepare
you for the upcoming change from US GAAP to International
GAAP.
These three courses,
which are available to you right now, are filling up, so I encourage you to
please sign up ASAP if you want to take advantage of this great opportunity to
increase your skill-set/knowledge.
