Consolidation Accounting, Wednesday, October 22, 2008 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. EST
The FASB’s proposed amendments to its Interpretation No. 46(R), Consolidation of Variable Interest Entities, have received considerable attention from the press in recent weeks. The proposed amendments are significant and come in response to concerns about the lack of transparency of an enterprise's involvement with off-balance-sheet structures. The FASB’s Exposure Draft is anticipated to be released soon. Key changes will be made to provisions for the determination of the primary beneficiary, reconsideration events and required disclosures. The amendments are expected to have wide-ranging effects on several structures, including many qualified SPEs which will now be consolidated. Join us as we discuss the proposed amendments. Additional details below.
