PPA-MS/Accy Degree Admission Checklist
The checklist provided is intended for students in the PPA who are applying to the Master of Science in Accountancy degree so that they may complete the PPA Graduate Degree Plan.
Applications are not complete until all required materials are received.
Submit the following documentation to the Department of Accountancy & Taxation; C. T. Bauer College of Business; 334 Melcher Hall, room 275; Houston, TX 77204-6021.
I. Application for Graduate Studies
Graduate applications are available in the Accounting Advising Office located in Room 275 – Melcher Hall.
II. Transcripts
The University requires official transcripts from all institutions (including community colleges) attended. Electronically transmitted transcripts will speed up the admissions process if option is available. If not, two hard copies from each institution must be submitted in an official sealed envelope. If your official transcripts are already in the system, please do not re-submit documents; The MSACCY Admissions Advisor will be able to access them.
III. Test Scores
The GMAT is required for all applicants. This requirement can not be waived. (Minimum 550 or above) Information regarding the GMAT can be obtained at: www.mba.com or by calling 1-800-GMAT-NOW. GMAT scores submitted may not be more than five years old. (School Code: XT1-26-67)
International students must also take the TOEFL unless they have a high school diploma or bachelor’s degree or higher from the United States. Information on the TOEFL can be obtained at: www.toefl.org. TOEFL scores submitted may not be more than two years old. (School Code 6870) Minimum scores: 620 – paper based and 105 – internet based.
The GMAT and TOEFL (if required) must be taken prior to the deadline. Expect a three or four week delay between taking the test and UH receiving the score.
IV. Non-Refundable $75 Application Fee For International Students:
Applicants with international transcripts must pay a $75 processing fee to International Admissions, in addition to the Business application fee of $75, for a total fee of $150. Payment must be made via personal U.S. check, U.S. money order (payable to the University of Houston). The name and student I.D. number of the applicant must be on the check or money order. NO CASH will be accepted! Only applicants whose fees have been paid will be reviewed.
V. A Non-refundable $75 Application Fee
A $75 Bauer College of Business application fee is required of all applicants. The name and student I.D. number of the applicant must be on the check or money order made payable to the University of Houston.
VI. Resume, Goals Statement, 2 Letters of Recommendation
A resume or curriculum vitae and a goals statement which specifies what the applicant expects to accomplish by completing this program and how it is related to his or her long term professional objectives is required. In addition, two recommendation letters from academic or professional sources familiar with the applicant’s background and potential for advancement are required. There is no required form to use for the letters of recommendation.
